I've come across a lot of questions posed by individuals "where is Malaysia?/what kind of country is Malaysia?" Honestly, it's kinda awkward to answer such question cuz Malaysia is a country excuse me, and what else can I tell about Malaysia. It is a country of xxxxxxxx population? It is a country often associated with terrorist activities? Well maybe I should blame myself for not knowing ENOUGH the country I've lived the better part of my life...
Recently, I went back to Kuala Lumpur. A city where I grew up, studied, met my friends, got acquainted with my best friend, hated, loved and whole bunch of different experiences. Yes, hated. I used to hate Kuala Lumpur. I had my days of complaining the city ain't clean enough, ain't beautiful enough, ain't civilize enough....and the tantrums and ramblings continued until.......................one day, I was given the chance to cross the pacific ocean (of course via airplane..duh!) and explored the world. Here I come UNITED STATES, I said to myself. Well, a western country must be better, I convinced myself my decision was right. As soon as I landed, the air felt different. No more smoky and hazy atmostphere. Pure clean air I'm breathing. I felt contented at that moment. As time progressed, life in the States wasn't at all rosy. In fact, I've started to miss my dear old kampung, Kuala Lumpur. Never had I imagined, life without the hazy air, bright street lights, regular motorcycle racers could be so endearing and so so tormenting. I began to tell everyone, LIFE SUCKS!
Isn't it ironic...human can never feel contented with what they have. A lot of people would die for my position. SERIOUS. I'm not making this up. They think US has a lot of golden opportunities and they can dig a lot of gold here. But they usually end up digging for potatoes in the kitchen and peeling the skin of those golden potatoes! It's not always easy to search for treasure. I haven't found my bucket of gold yet, still surviving and lucky enough I don't need to peel potatoes. =)
I would love to proclaim my love for my beloved kampung that you are the best and the greatest! No where in the world can replace my Kuala Lumpur. More accurately, I live in Cheras..hehe...
Cherish what you have now....
